 Role Overview

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of critical infrastructure components and CI/CD pipelines for a key project in the media technology space. You will play a crucial part in containerizing and orchestrating microservices, leveraging multiple cloud providers, and ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of high-impact platforms. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role (ICA3) that requires a blend of advanced technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 Key Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Leadership: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust pipelines for microservices using tools like Jenkins X, Maven, and advanced scripting.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive deployment using Terraform to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure architecture across GCP, Azure, and AWS.
  • Container Orchestration: Provide expert-level support for software containerization with Docker and extensive use of Kubernetes and Docker Swarm.
  • Cluster Management: Independently set up, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters and related tools like Rancher for production-ready orchestration.
  • Security & Vulnerability: Lead vulnerability management efforts, performing scans and addressing findings in Docker images to ensure platform security.
  • Escalation & Troubleshooting: Resolve complex performance, deployment, and data quality issues, serving as a primary point of escalation.
  • Collaboration: Work extensively with product owners, data scientists, and engineers across the software delivery lifecycle, translating complex requirements into scalable code.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

 Qualifications

  • Experience: 5-7 years of progressive experience in infrastructure management, DevOps engineering, or related software development.
  • Tooling: Strong proficiency with Jenkins X, Maven, Pulumi, and Terraform.
  • Containerization: Deep expertise in Docker and advanced experience with Kubernetes (Rancher experience is a plus).
  • Cloud Platforms: Proven hands-on experience with at least two major providers (GCP, Azure, AWS), including VMs, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and CDNs.
  • Scripting: Strong skills in Python, GoLang, or similar languages for automation.
  • Databases: Experience with NoSQL (e.g., Couchbase) and/or relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
  • Monitoring: Proficiency with New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic Search.
  • Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, a low ego, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Highly Favourable Assets

  • Experience with infrastructure security tools like SonarQube and artifact management (JFrog/Nexus).
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Prior experience in OTT platforms, media processing, or video engineering domains.

Contract Details

  • Duration: 6-12 months (with strong potential for permanent conversion).
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Location: Hybrid (Toronto area required; 3 days onsite per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
