Role Overview
Lead the development of scalable, enterprise-grade user interfaces supporting a cutting-edge OTT video management and operations platform. You will design and implement robust frontend solutions using modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, and JavaScript, working closely with backend engineers, product managers, and UX designers to deliver intuitive, performant, and reliable user experiences.
Contract: 6-12 months (high potential for permanent conversion)
Location: Hybrid – Toronto (Tue/Wed/Thu onsite). GTA candidates only.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade web applications usingReact JS, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Take ownership of frontend modules, features, and UI architecture supportingOTT video management and operations workflows
- Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure high code quality, maintainability, performance, and adherence to engineering standard
- Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces using HTML5,CSS3, and UI frameworks such as Bootstrap or Material UI
- Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and services in a distributed,multi-tier system architecture
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and cross-browser compatibilityacross modern browsers and platforms
- Implement and integrate multimedia playback functionality using streamingprotocols such as HLS and DASH
- Work with browser APIs, media players, and frontend libraries to support OTTvideo playback and management workflows
- Use modern build tools such as Webpack, Grunt, Gulp, or similar for application bundling and deployment
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex UI, browser, and performance-related issues
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to frontend design standards, patterns, and best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with backend engineers, QA, DevOps, and product teams
- Work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment
What We’re Looking For
Technical Must-Haves
- 5-7 years of overall software development experience
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience developing UI applications for OTT or video streaming platforms
- Strong expertise in React JS, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and browser development challenges
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade software applications
- Experience working with browser APIs, frontend libraries, and media players
- Experience implementing UI/UX using Bootstrap, Material UI, or similar frameworks
- Experience using build tools such as Webpack, Grunt, Gulp, or equivalent
- Understanding of multimedia streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH
- Experience working with video players across multiple browsers and environments
- Understanding of distributed systems and multi-tier application architecture
- Ability to work independently as a senior individual contributor
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Highly Favorable
- Experience working on OTT video platforms, media workflows, or video management systems
- Understanding of code obfuscation, encryption, and frontend security best practices
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership
